John Marshall
Married with two daughters John lives in Edinburgh. He graduated at Glasgow School of Art and at a later period became a member of the Governing Board. John Marshall was also one of the first members of The Society of Industrial Artists and Designers in Scotland. He contributed, wrote and illustrated a series of articles to, amongst others, the Scottish Field magazine and the Eagle comic. He has had an extremely diverse practice in illustration, spanning publishing, advertising, public utilities, comic strip, government environmental impact, development corportation work and architecture. Through Grisewood and Dempsey Packagers, now part of Larousse plc, and various art agencies he has worked for most of the major publishing houses at one time or another and frequently been involved in the concept and research aspects of the work, quite apart from the illustration himself. He now intends to illustrate books he has written himself.
