Frank Watson Wood
1862-1953. Born Berwick-on-Tweed, studied South Kensington and Paris. Second Master at Newcastle School of Art 1883-9 and Headmaster of Hawick School of Art 1889-99. Exhibited regularly in Edinburgh; he was known for his watercolours of sailing ships and various battleships, and he also painted efective, 'wet' watercolours of the Highlands and Borders.
