Artist Biography

Born Ayrshire 1945

1964-68 Studied at Glasgow School of Art
1968-69 Awarded post-diploma
1969 Scottish Arts Council bursary
1969 Awarded D. T. Cargill Travelling Scholarship
1970-71 Travelled to Italy and stayed in Florence. Produced a series of pastel studies based on rocks and olive trees. On return to Scotland completed a series of oil paintings based on these and further studies in and round Catrine and the river Ayr.
1972 Solo exhibition ‘The Museum’ Glasgow School of Art
1972 Awarded Robert Colquhoun Memorial Prize
1973 Solo exhibition Robert Colquhoun Gallery, Kilmarnock
1974 Joined Glasgow League of Artists and contributed to all exhibitions until it
was disbanded in the early 1980s
1991-92 Completed an extension in Catrine to provide space for a studio, workshop and pottery
2005 Joined the Glasgow Group
Works in collections of Fife and Liverpool Education Authorities and The Dick Institute, Kilmarnock
