Anna Malyon

Gallery and bio below

Anna Malyon was born in Inverness in 1973. Despite her love for art, Anna initially chose a career in social work. When she and her husband moved to Sweden in 2008, Anna took the opportunity to train in art and design, with a particular emphasis on drawing and painting. When she returned home to Scotland in 2015, Anna undertook further study in Printmaking at Leith School of Art and Painting at Glasgow School of Art under the tutelage of ‘glasgow girl’ Rosemary Beaton.

Anna’s landscapes are inspired by her surroundings, memories and experiences. She is excited by the ever changing colour, light and movement and is interested in capturing the atmospheric elements and life within the landscape. Inspired by the interplay between man’s existence and the natural landscape, Anna enjoys the linear aspect created by fence posts, drystane dykes, ploughed fields and hedgerows. Her landscape paintings are often created using a mix of acrylics, inks, papers and wax pastels. This process allows her to build up layers of colour and line on the canvas, creating textures and visual interest.

Anna has exhibited in the UK and abroad and her work is held in many private collections throughout the UK, Scandinavia, Europe and the United States.
