Ed was born in Glasgow and studied drawing and painting at evening classes at Glasgow School of Art under Charlie Boyle, and life drawing at Strathclyde University under Bob Brown. Since turning professional in 1993, he has exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Glasgow Institute, Paisley Art Institute and galleries in the UK, U.S.A., Germany, France and Russia.
Ed says “I've drawn and painted for as long as I can recall and have been a full time painter since 1993. In the beginning I concentrated on making ends meet. In time I relaxed and allowed room for development and following more personal inclinations. I am out walking a lot either in the hills or along the shore. The attraction is the natural drama of changing weather conditions and their influence on the light and landscape.”
