Fiona Matheson
Originals
To become a painter was a natural progression for Fiona following a successful career as a knitwear designer. She graduated from Winchester School of Art and won the 'Young Designer into Industry Award' presented by the Royal Society of Arts before working with Marks and Spencer.
As an artist her relationship with the landscape is deep rooted, coming from several generations of Highland crofters. The richness of her palette contrasts well against a unique, textural quality which reflects her early training and background. She works both in oils and mixed media and her unmistakable wide-format landscapes conjure the uncompromising essence of the North.
